How is coaching different from therapy or counseling?
Therapy tends to focus on the past, while coaching deals more with the present and creating the future the client desires. Unlike therapy, which depends on the knowledge and advice of the therapist, coaching depends on the natural creativity and wisdom of the client. The coach acts as a catalyst for the client to make changes in his or her life. If a person has deep emotional wounds that affect their ability to function well in their life, they should seek the help of a therapist. Coaching is most appropriate for addressing the frustrations of everyday life issues and solving problems. It is an equal partnership between the coach and the client.
